The equipment, loaded in Kirkenes on barges, passed 1,080 nautical miles along the seas of the basin of the Arctic Ocean, accompanied by sea tugs to Salekhard, where the sea tugs were replaced with river tugs. From Salekhard to Tobolsk, barges passed along the Ob and Irtysh rivers — 1,350 nautical miles. According to the guidelines on sea and river towage developed with the project institute, additional tugs were used on the rivers to ensure controllability of the Barges. Also, an operation was performed to obtain a permit for passage through the NSR.
